ASU Downtown Rec Center
Completed in 2012, the ASU Downtown Rec Center is a state-of-the-art sports facility designed to enhance the recreational amenities of Arizona State University (ASU). The project, owned by ASU, was executed by general contractor Sundt Construction, with architectural design by Gabor Lorant Architects, Inc., and engineering by Caruso Turley Scott, Inc. The facility required 721 tons of steel, including 120-foot long-span, 6-foot deep plate girders to support a unique rooftop pool. This advanced structural design exemplifies innovative construction techniques, making the rec center a landmark for ASU and a premier space for student and staff recreation.
